Hello, I’m Samuel Lee Roberts.

I am an actor/producer working and living in New York City.

I recently retired from the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater after a decade of traveling and performing across the globe. I have had the great fortune to have a career in concert dance that has spanned twenty years! Now, it is time for me to focus on my first love: acting. I am currently enrolled in an on camera class at MN Acting Studio https://www.mnactingstudio.com/ and auditioning as much as is possible.

I attended The Juilliard School class of 99’. In 1999, I became a founding member of the Battleworks Dance Company, where I worked closely with Robert Battle until 2009.

While working with Mr. Battle, I had the great fortune of having the solo “In/Side” created on me. “In/Side” would go on to be the greatest vehicle in my dance career, largely responsible for everything that would come next…

In 2009, I auditioned for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and to my great delight received a contract. I am forever indebted to Ms. Judith Jamison for hiring me. As luck would have it, Mr. Battle became the artistic director of Ailey several years after my joining. Over the next seven years, I got to work alongside Mr. Battle and travel the globe as a “United States Cultural Ambassador to the World.”

During the pandemic, I had the incredible opportunity to star in and executive produce “Forgotten Song” https://www.forgottensongfilm.com/ , a short film. I eagerly anticipate the next twenty year journey as an actor/producer. I hope to work with many of you.
